THE TEAM NEWS

SALFORD RED DEVILS

Head Coach: Ian Watson

Squad: Bibby, Burke, Dudson, Evalds, Flanagan, Hastings, Inu, J. Johnson, Jones, Lannon, Lolohea, Lussick, McCarthy, Mossop, Olpherts, Tomkins, Walker, Welham

Unavailable: Ed Chamberlain, George Griffin, Ben Nakubuwai, Ken Sio

  • Salford put themselves right back in play-off contention as they defeated Warrington away from home for the second time this season and will need to kick-on from that win as they host Catalans.

  • Ryan Lannon will remain with Salford for another month after his loan spell from Hull KR was extended following some strong displays and could be joined in the side by fellow forward Lee Mossop after he overcame a knock.

  • Derrell Olpherts will be hoping for a recall after he was included in the 19-man squad with in place of Junior Sa’u who left the club to sign for Championship side Leigh this week whilst Greg Johnson also drops out.

CATALANS DRAGONS

Head Coach: Steve McNamara

Squad: Albert, Bousquet, Casty, Da Costa, Garcia, Gigot, Goudemand, Jullien, Kasiano, Maria, McIlorum, Mead, Romano, Simon, Smith, Tomkins, Wiliame, Whitley, Yaha

Unavailable: Greg Bird, Jason Baitieri, Lewis Tierney, Sam Moa, Samisoni Langi, Kenny Edwards, Jodie Broughton

  • Catalans made it back-to-back wins to get their bid for the play-offs back on track with a solid victory on the road against Huddersfield and now face Salford in another important contest.

  • Kenny Edwards has received a one-match ban for foul and abusive language towards a match official in what is a big blow for Catalans whilst Samisoni Langi is also out with a knock.

  • The luckless Jodie Broughton is set for another long spell on the sidelines as he requires knee surgery and will be replaced by Fouad Yaha whilst Matty Smith and Benjamin Jullien also come back into contention.

THE PREDICTION

This is a huge game between two play-off hopefuls as they attempt to put winning runs together. The key for both is consistency but they have produced unpredictable results at numerous points during the season which makes this one difficult to call. Either side could come out on top but with Samisoni Langi missing for the Dragons, that could give Salford the edge who will be hopeful of producing a similar performance to last week’s effort against Warrington.
